Sullivan's Island

The town of Sullivan's Island was incorporated in 1817, a barrier island located north of Charleston Harbor, and comprised of approximately 2,000 residents. These full and part time residents enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of the Island. There are no hotels, motels or bed and breakfasts. A few airbnb and vrbo properties have been "grandfathered" in.

Early history 1776, the island was a fort during the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Fort Moultrie Museum is located on the island. A must visit to the Fort and go below to view the area where communications took place. There are bunkers on the island that are actual homes today.

You will find no traffic lights on the island. This is a place where children ride their bikes to school and the ice cream shop, where the locals meet at High Thyme for drinks or dinner. The local folks take turns having a supper at each other's homes on the weekends. Locals tend to stay on the island over the weekend, why would you want to go anywhere else!
